On 2nd May 1825 the Act of Parliament for the construction of the Cromford and High Peak Railway was passed. It authorised the entire line between Cromford Canal (the original High Peak Junction) and Whaley Bridge (Peak Forest Canal).
As part of this years’ Rail 200 celebrations SGLR are replicating the operations of the C&HP on the section of line Sheep Pasture-Steeplehouse-Middleton, using the published C&HP timetable for 1874. This included the daily passenger train between Cromford and Whaley Bridge (and vice versa)
on the 3rd 4th and 5th of may SGLR will replicate the operations of the C&HP using the published timetable for 1874. This included the daily passenger train between Cromford and Whaley Bridge (and vice versa), known as The Fly. Operations at SGLR will happen from the High Peak Trail gate to our Middleton station. Between the Hours of Every Hour a freight train will Depart followed by a Passenger Train shortly After. Movements will take place each hour over the three days. Freight trains will be operated by various locomotives during the days with locomotive swaps taking place at dark lane quarry.

Passenger train services will hauled by ZM32 during the day with various freight movements operating in between passenger services
No booking Required Operations will start at 10:30 am and finish at 16:30.
